You are allowed to set up defenses, rebuild hospitals, homes, farmlands, and so on. The most important asses in this apocalyptic world are healthy humans. You can rescue them as you're looking for resources, and invite them to your city to make it even stronger.

Keep in mind that there are multiple types of zombies because the virus mutates. You will have to fight and kill zombie bears, mutant zombies, death mothers, and so on. Another positive aspect of Age of Z is the ability to create alliances with other players to fight common enemies and take over the world.
