The story puts you in the shoes of a retired employee of a toy company. As you return to your former workplace looking for a special poppy flower, you realize there’s a large statue of a toy named Huggy Wuggy in the lobby. Even though the power goes out, you manage to restore it, but hey, the statue of Huggy Wuggy is now gone. As you start investigating the situation, you end up deeper in the factory where Huggy finally appears.

Players have to find their way out of this dangerous situation with the help of a backpack called GrabPack. This item contains two artificial hands connected through steel wire, allowing players to move heavy objects, reach far away, and conduct electricity. Why is this important? Because by moving objects, you can solve puzzles and gain access to new areas inside the factory. Extending your hands and reaching far away comes in handy when engaging items from a distance. Take advantage of the ability to conduct electricity to interact with devices and electrical circuits around your character.

Poppy Playtime Chapter 1’s atmosphere is pretty scary thanks to the environment’s design and other aspects of the game like the sound. Moving through the 3D space draws the player’s attention to various eerie-looking toys and such.

The game’s controls are not that different from what we would find in other three-dimensional mobile games. At the lower left side of the screen, we find the joystick. We can use it to navigate through the game’s 3D space. We also have a button for jumping. Towards the lower right side of the screen, the game displays two buttons: one blue button to control the left hand and one red button to control the right hand.
